The hardest-working room in the house demands a hard-working window treatment. As with all rooms, light control is essential, but so is ventilation, for obvious reasons. Look for durable window treatments that stand up to the heat generated by your appliances and are also easy to clean. Avoid cords that dangle onto countertops or, even worse, into the sink.
