Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup
September 23, 1995

A small stretch of FM 2818 is now a little cleaner thanks to 10 FHS members and the Adopt-A-Highway program. The highway cleanup held on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 9:00AM was a great success as a portion (although small) was rid of unsightly litter. Approximately 22 bags of debris were picked up.

The day-glo-orange-vest-wearing-early-weaking-trash-pickers included:
Jay Chaffin
Steve Chriss
Gretchen Eagle
Mark Krause
Sarah Lineberger
Kim Mason
Douglas Maxwell
Kelli Jo Miller
Beth Nolte
Wisty Perry

Participants were entertained by the varied items of litter passers-by had tossed out of their vehicle, ranging from a myriad of Styrofoam cups to car tires to beer bottles, and yes even an animal skull. Needless to say, fun was had by all.

Afterwards, the group got together for lunch at Swensens to quench the appetite that only a trash pick-up could create.
