Fall Plant Fair 1995

Before 7:30AM on the brisk morning of Saturday, October 7, the hort. building was raided by an onslaught of willing FHS members. Still asleep and guided by some unseen force, they began moving Ficus after beautiful Ficus (as well as many other high quality plants) and preparing for the day ahead of them. The occasion: Fall Plant Fair 1995.

This year's annual Fall Plant Fair, though scaled down from past fairs, proved to be a success for FHS. The club sold a variety of houseplants and bedding plants to an equally varied clientele, producing funds to carry the club further into the year.

More importantly, however, the fair serves as a chance for club members to get an impression of the sales aspect of horticulture. Without hands-on experiences such this, many students may not have the opportunity to determine their interest or lack thereof in this area... one of the great values of membership in FHS.

The day progressed as waves of customers visited the fair. Workers were treated with interesting and entertaining individuals, their children with equally entertaining stories, and yes even their dogs.

Fair Highlights:

The day definitely had a lot to offer to participants, and so will future club events. To reap the benefits you must, however, remain involved. (You might even finally learn how to work the cash register! :-} )

Congratulations FHS on completion of Fall Plant Fair 1995.
